Daily Announcements – Tuesday – 11/25/08

·        Holiday Week: This is a short week; we will only be in school Monday and Tuesday of this week. Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday!

 

·        Fine Arts Center Visitation: Anyone interested in visiting the Fine Arts Center on December 12th; see Mrs. Mitchell in Guidance.

 

·        Chick-fil-A Biscuits: Every Friday biscuits are sold in the car line by PTA. Thanks for your support.

 

·        Basketball Season: The basketball season will soon be upon us; the teams are practicing hard to be ready for their first game on December 8th @ Sevier Middle. Girls start at 5:30 and Boys follow immediately. Come out and support the players.

 

·        Anti-Drug Poster Contest: Congratulations to Ms. McCauley and her Art students who were honored yesterday for the winning entries for the Anti-Drug Poster contest. The following students are the winners: Madison P., Emma L., Olivia F., Clairee R., Rayne M., and Elise H. Way to Go!

 

·        Wade Hampton Cross Country: Congratulations to the League members of the Wade Hampton Cross Country team; Ben B., Addison B., Nick H., Andrew M., and Jackson Z. for helping WHHS to win the region championship, the county championship, the upper state championship, and this past Saturday it’s 6th State Championship in the last 10 years. All the League guys did a great job this year, thanks from Coach Zeller.

 

·        Orchestra: This weekend orchestra students from League Academy auditioned for the South Carolina Western Region Orchestra festival to be held on November 21-22 at Easley High School. Students from Greenville, Anderson, Pickens, and Oconee counties compete to participate in this festival and earn the privilege to audition for the South Carolina All-State Orchestra. League students selected to participate are: Violin: Hayden W., Christina C., Vivian T., Gracie S., Tori S. Viola: Sarah C., Colleen M., Mary Evelyn M., Madison S. Cello: Allison M., Caleb C. Bass: Brandon B., Richard M. Special congratulations to Hayden W. who was the highest scoring violin in the region. Results like this show why Mrs. Crowe is our Teacher of the Year!  

 

·        Sports Physicals! Reminder, any student wishing to tryout for any sport, must have a Physical completed and signed by the doctor and turned in to the coach prior to engaging in any tryouts. Physical forms can be obtained by going to the League website and clicking on the Athletics tab and printing a copy, picking up a copy in the front office, or students can pick a copy up from Mr. McCartney in room 316. Don’t wait till the last minute, get the physical done early! Spring Sports: any student planning to try out for Baseball, Softball, or Soccer should plan to have a physical done before the winter break in December. All physicals for Spring Sports may be turned in any time to Coach McCartney.

·        Wade Hampton Cross Country: Congratulations to the League members of the Wade Hampton Cross Country team; Ben B., Addison B., Nick H., Andrew M., and Jackson Z. for helping WHHS to win the region championship, the county championship, the upper state championship, and this past Saturday it’s 6th State Championship in the last 10 years. All the League guys did a great job this year, thanks from Coach Zeller.

Students from Greenville, Anderson, Pickens, and Oconee counties compete to participate in this festival and earn the privilege to audition for the South Carolina All-State Orchestra. League students selected to participate are: Violin: Hayden W., Christina C., Vivian T., Gracie S., Tori S. Viola: Sarah C., Colleen M., Mary Evelyn M., Madison S. Cello: Allison M., Caleb C. Bass: Brandon B., Richard M. Special congratulations to Hayden W. who was the highest scoring violin in the region. Results like this show why Mrs. Crowe is our Teacher of the Year!  

 

·        Sports Physicals! Reminder, any student wishing to tryout for any sport, must have a Physical completed and signed by the doctor and turned in to the coach prior to engaging in any tryouts. Physical forms can be obtained by going to the League website and clicking on the Athletics tab and printing a copy, picking up a copy in the front office, or students can pick a copy up from Mr. McCartney in room 316. Don’t wait till the last minute, get the physical done early! Spring Sports: any student planning to try out for Baseball, Softball, or Soccer should plan to have a physical done before the winter break in December. All physicals for Spring Sports may be turned in any time to Coach McCartney.

·        Fall Book Fair: This is the final day of League’s Fall Book Fair being held this week in the Media Center. (we will close at 10:30 am today). Please support your school library by supporting this fun and worthwhile event!

 

·        Penny Challenge: The Penny Challenge results are: 6th grade positive 2937, 7th Grade negative 4098, and 8th grade negative 4540. Last day of the challenge is Monday 11/10. Teacher and parent checks count as a double negative.

·        Fall Book Fair: League’s Fall Book Fair will be held this week, November 10-14, in the Media Center from 7:30-3:15 (we will close at 10:30 am on Friday). The Book Fair will also be open Tuesday evening, November 11, before and after the Parent Seminar on Internet Safety. Please support your school library by supporting this fun and worthwhile event!

 

·        Penny Challenge: The Penny Challenge results are: 6th grade positive 2937, 7th Grade negative 4098, and 8th grade negative 4540. Last day of the challenge is Monday 11/10. Teacher and parent checks count as a double negative.

 

·        Chick-Fil-A Biscuits: Every Friday biscuits are sold in the car line by PTA. Thanks for your support.

 

·        Anti-Drug Poster Contest: Congratulations to Ms. McCauley and her Art students who were honored yesterday for the winning entries for the Anti-Drug Poster contest. The following students are the winners: Madison P., Emma L., Olivia F., Clairee R., Rayne M., and Elise H. Way to Go!

 

·        Wade Hampton Cross Country: Congratulations to the League members of the Wade Hampton Cross Country team; Ben B., Addison B., Nick H., Andrew M., and Jackson Z. for helping WHHS to win the region championship, the county championship, the upper state championship, and this past Saturday it’s 6th State Championship in the last 10 years. All the League guys did a great job this year, thanks from Coach Zeller.

 

·        Orchestra: This weekend orchestra students from League Academy auditioned for the South Carolina Western Region Orchestra festival to be held on November 21-22 at Easley High School. Students from Greenville, Anderson, Pickens, and Oconee counties compete to participate in this festival and earn the privilege to audition for the South Carolina All-State Orchestra. League students selected to participate are: Violin: Hayden W., Christina C., Vivian T., Gracie S., Tori S. Viola: Sarah C., Colleen M., Mary Evelyn M., Madison S. Cello: Allison M., Caleb C. Bass: Brandon B., Richard M. Special congratulations to Hayden W. who was the highest scoring violin in the region. Results like this show why Mrs. Crowe is our Teacher of the Year!  

 

·        Sports Physicals! Reminder, any student wishing to tryout for any sport, must have a Physical completed and signed by the doctor and turned in to the coach prior to engaging in any tryouts. Physical forms can be obtained by going to the League website and clicking on the Athletics tab and printing a copy, picking up a copy in the front office, or students can pick a copy up from Mr. McCartney in room 316. Don’t wait till the last minute, get the physical done early! Spring Sports: any student planning to try out for Baseball, Softball, or Soccer should plan to have a physical done before the winter break in December. All physicals for Spring Sports may be turned in any time to Coach McCartney.

·        Theatre Arts Department Announcement: You’re invited to attend “An Occasion for Theatre” in the League Auditorium next Tuesday, November 18 at 7 o’clock p.m.  The Theatre Production Class will perform the classical “Bernice Bobs Her Hair” and the Intermediate Drama Class will present the comedy, “Frump Tales.”  Tickets will be sold at the door and you may see both shows for only $3.00. If you can’t make the Tuesday night show, come to the final dress rehearsal this Sunday, November 16, at 3 o’clock p.m.  It’s free, but donations are welcome!
